Steel Pipe Supplier for Industrial and Construction Projects

As a steel pipe supplier, FDSteels provides welded and seamless products for construction, infrastructure, industrial systems, mechanical engineering, and bulk procurement. The range includes multiple diameters, wall thicknesses, lengths, grades, finishes, and end preparations.

Steel pipes may serve as structural members or convey water, gas, oil, steam, and industrial fluids. These uses have different technical requirements, so selection must follow the intended service, design conditions, applicable standard, and required testing.

Available Steel Pipe Types and Specifications

FDSteels supplies pipes according to the confirmed purchase specification and available mill documentation.

Specification Supply Options
Main Types ERW, seamless, spiral welded, galvanized, black, scaffolding, gas, water, industrial, structural, and casing pipes
Outside Diameter 21.3–508 mm
Wall Thickness 0.4–20 mm
Length 6 m, 12 m, or agreed custom lengths
Materials ST37, ST44, ST52, and selected API grades
Surface Condition Black, oiled, or galvanized
End Preparation Plain end or beveled end
Standards DIN, EN, ASTM, API, or BS specifications, subject to confirmation

Dimensions may be stated by outside diameter and wall thickness or by nominal pipe size and Schedule, depending on the standard. Nominal size alone is insufficient because pipes within the same size category can have different wall thicknesses and weights.

ERW, Seamless, and Spiral Welded Pipes

ERW steel pipe is formed from strip or coil and joined by a longitudinal electric-resistance weld. It provides consistent dimensions and commercial efficiency for many structural, mechanical, water, and general industrial applications.

Seamless steel pipe has no longitudinal weld seam and is commonly specified where the design code, pressure, temperature, or purchase specification requires seamless construction.

Spiral welded pipe has a helical weld seam and is often considered for larger-diameter transmission, piling, and infrastructure requirements.

Manufacturing process alone does not determine suitability. Grade, dimensions, pressure rating, weld quality, testing, and the governing standard must also be reviewed.

For square and rectangular structural profiles, see our Steel Hollow Sections page.

Benefits and Applications

Steel pipes combine strength, durability, practical fabrication, and broad dimensional choice. Depending on grade and standard, they may be cut, welded, threaded, beveled, bent, or coated.

Typical applications include:

  • Building structures, supports, fencing, and scaffolding
  • Infrastructure, piling, and greenhouse structures
  • Water transmission and industrial fluid systems
  • Oil, gas, petrochemical, and power projects
  • Mechanical equipment and general fabrication
  • Fire-protection and utility systems

Products for pressure, gas, steam, fire protection, or process service must meet the applicable project standard and testing requirements. Structural pipe must not replace pressure-rated pipe without engineering approval.

Standards, Certification, and Inspection

Common specifications include ASTM A53 for welded and seamless steel pipe, ASTM A106 for seamless carbon steel pipe intended for high-temperature service, and API 5L for line pipe. EN standards may also be specified for welded or seamless pressure tubes. State the required edition, grade, delivery condition, and supplementary tests in the RFQ.

Depending on the contract and source, a mill test certificate may show the heat number, chemical composition, mechanical properties, and applicable test results.

Inspection can cover diameter, wall thickness, length, straightness, ovality, surface, weld seam, ends, coating, marking, and bundle count. Hydrostatic testing, nondestructive examination, laboratory testing, or third-party inspection can be coordinated when agreed before order confirmation.

Packaging and Delivery

Pipes are bundled or packed according to their diameter, length, finish, and transport method. End protection, wrapping, tags, and handling requirements can be agreed for the order.

Shipment planning considers bundle size, weight, loading limits, destination, schedule, and Incoterm. FDSteels can coordinate related requirements through its steel supply services.

Steel Pipe Price and Bulk Quotations

Steel pipe prices are quoted per metric ton or per length. The final offer depends on manufacturing process, diameter or NPS, wall thickness or Schedule, grade, standard, length, ends, coating, quantity, testing, freight, and delivery terms.

For an accurate quotation, provide:

  • Pipe type and intended application
  • Outside diameter or NPS
  • Wall thickness or Schedule
  • Standard, grade, and delivery condition
  • Length, end type, and surface finish
  • Quantity and required testing
  • Destination, Incoterm, and delivery schedule

A complete RFQ reduces errors and allows us to prepare a relevant commercial offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between pipe size and Schedule?

Nominal pipe size identifies the size category, while Schedule relates to wall thickness. Confirm the actual diameter and wall thickness in the applicable standard.

2. Can welded and seamless pipes both be supplied?

Yes. ERW, spiral welded, and seamless options can be quoted according to the size, grade, standard, quantity, and current availability.

3. What details are needed for a quotation?

Provide the manufacturing type, dimensions, Schedule, grade, standard, length, ends, finish, quantity, tests, destination, and Incoterm.
